Have your deerbeagles ever run a nice buck to a lucky hunter who made the kill? If so tell me about it with a small story. Also, send a pic of the unlucky 6 point or larger buck with antlers at least 12" X 12", state and county or city buck killed in, name of hunt club deer killed on and the name of the pack of dogs that was running it. I don't really want to know who the hunter was that killed the buck unless it was you, the owner of the beagles. Remember, this is a page dedicated to your hardworking deerbeagles and their successes! Good luck in your hunts and I look forward to hearing the stories!
Thanks Ken for sending this one in already!
I killed this 14 pt on Jan 1, 2009 in Surry County VA in front of my own pack of 12 beagles. They jumped in a small cutover we had surrounded. They took off straight away and circled back, I readied myself and shot a one horned spike. There were two other deer running just behind the spike. The dogs took them to the standers behind me. I heard alot of shooting and about half the pack kept going and half were coming back to me. I saw the horns in the broom straw and as luck would have he ran just about 40 yards from me. The two deer fell within 20 yards of each other. I had to get there quick as my dogs love to chew on there ears hind end and anywhere there is blood.

This 13 point buck was taken on 21 NOV 09 by Mr. Marshall, Pres. of Country Boy’s Hunt Club in Suffolk, VA.
Buck was pushed by a pack of beagles from Lake Cohoon Kennels (14” and 15” beagles) and beagles owned by Jimmy and Shook. These beagles proved once again that size doesn’t matter!!!!
This web site is great thanks for your time you put into it.

This 175 lb big buck was killed saturday morning, November 21st out in Sussex County , Virginia. The buck was run by some non purebred beagles owned by Russel Grant of Waverly Hunt Club. Hunters were in their stands waiting for the dogs to drop and they saw the buck try to get through the line. Russell dropped his dogs where they saw the buck and his dogs ran the buck right to Ron Savage.
Take care,
Don Wright

Hey Woodie,
got another nice buck killed in front of one of my beagles yesterday. I turned 6 of my dogs loose first thing in the morning along with about 100 other beagles and hounds, it was a big hunt in Prince George co. To make a long story short my 6 dogs split on 3 different deer not long after they jumped that morning and my dog Crockett (aka- Knothead, Keith's Krazy K Bam Bam x Dyal's Hardtime Brandy) broke off on his own and ended up jumping this nice buck and a guy from Hopewell Hunt Club ended up killing the deer in front of him sometime around lunch time several miles away. It was a 17" or better 6pt Crockett's first solo kill in front of him, both myself and the hunter where both very excited.

Here's a nice 16.5" four pointer killed in St John Hunt Club (Ahoskie, NC) 12-13-09 by Dylan Alston. Dylan is 11 years old and this was his first buck. There were some Beagles and Walkers running the deer. Dylan was standing on a stump pile in a cutover when the buck ran about 30 yards of him and stopped for a pose. Dylan fired at him with his 20ga. He said he could see the fur fly off him but the buck just looked at him. He fired at him 3 more times before he started hollering and fussing. We could hear him from the road so we ran in there to him. The buck went about 50 yards from where he shot him and layed down. Dylans dad, Gordon had to finish him off. That 'ol 20ga just wasn't making enough penetration. When we skinned the deer, about 25 20ga pellets fell out of the hide. Not a bad buck for an 11 year old's first one. We were all excited for him...thats what its all about! TAKE A KID HUNTING!

Here's another Buck killed by St John Hunt Club in Ahoskie. The buck was killed by Matt Cobb in what we call the Airport Block. It is a 8 pointer 19" inside. We can only hunt that block maybe once a year due to the landowners still hunting it. We turned loose 2 packs of Beagles and Walkers (12 total dogs) and within 1 hour that buck was down along with 2 more that were 15 and 16 inches. All 3 bucks plus another 19" buck that got away were laying in about a 10 acre corner!

This buck was killed in St John Hunt Club (Ahoskie, NC) the last week of deer season. He is an 8 pointer 17" inside. One of the guys saw him crossing a road out of the Potecasi Swamp into a small block we could easily surround. We turned loose some beagles and walkers on him. He circled the block 3 times before JoJo walked in a swamp run and killed him. They were really playing some music running him.
